Requirements:

Must be U.S. Citizen or provide a Certificate of Naturalization.

  • DegreeMaster's degree in speech pathology or communication disorders
  • Education:  Graduate from a college or university that includes at least 18 semester hours in the field of speech pathology by a regional accreditation organization and a speech pathology academic program accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language- Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Certification: Maintain current certification of Clinical Competency in speech-language pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • Experience:  Possess experience as a Speech Language Pathologist of at least two (2) years within the preceding three (3) years.
  • Licensure:  Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a speech pathologist as required in the TO.

Duties:

  • Provide, upon physician referral, evaluation, and treatment programs for basic and more complicated communication disorders including: articulation, language, fluency, resonance phonatory, and neuromuscular problems.
  • Select, administer, and interpret commonly used diagnostic tests including vocabulary, articulation, and language batteries for adults and children.
  • Refer patients to physicians, audiologists, or other health care providers as appropriate.
  • Select appropriate laryngeal communication devices.
  • Develop coherent treatment strategies.
  • Incorporate new clinical procedures sufficient to perform clinical services independently.
  • Conduct patient assessments; provide treatment interventions and consultation to other health care professionals.
  • Use instrumentation (e.g., videofluoroscopy, nasendoscopy, stroboscopy, computer technology) to observe, collect data, and measure parameters of communication and swallowing, or other upper aero-digestive functions in accordance with the principles of evidence-based practice.
  • Provide prevention, screening, consultation, assessment and diagnostic, treatment, intervention, management, counseling, and follow-up services for disorders of speech and language, including comprehension and expression in oral, written, graphic, and manual modalities.

 

Start date: 

  • As soon as possible pending Federal Security Clearance process completion (typically 4-6 weeks after initiation)


Schedule:

  • Services shall normally be provided Monday through Friday between the hours of 0700 and 2100. The HCW will be scheduled for an eight and a half (8.5) hour shift to include an uncompensated thirty (30) minute meal break. Shifts will be on a rotated basis within the time ranges specified as clinical demand dictate. In no instance will the HCW exceed eighty (80) hours per two (2) week period.
Ability to commute:
  • Reliably transportation is required and expected for commuting to and from the work site.
