Position Overview: We are currently seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join the Telemetry Unit. A Telemetry Nurse specializes in monitoring patients' vital signs and cardiac rhythms using telemetry equipment. Working primarily in hospitals, telemetry nurses play a crucial role in detecting and responding to changes in patients' conditions, particularly those with cardiac-related issues. They provide continuous monitoring and care for patients requiring telemetry monitoring, ensuring prompt intervention and coordination with the healthcare team.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize telemetry equipment to continuously monitor patients' cardiac rhythms, vital signs, oxygen saturation levels, and other parameters as required.
- Conduct regular assessments of patients' cardiac status, including electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation, to identify changes or abnormalities in heart rhythm and intervene promptly.
- Administer medications as prescribed by physicians, particularly those related to cardiac care, and monitor patients for therapeutic responses and potential adverse reactions.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans based on patients' diagnoses and telemetry findings.
- Respond rapidly to alarms indicating cardiac arrhythmias or other critical events, initiating appropriate interventions such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), defibrillation, or medication administration.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of telemetry findings, patient assessments, interventions, and responses to treatment in electronic medical records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience telemetry or cardiac nursing.
- Proficiency in ECG interpretation and telemetry monitoring equipment.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritize tasks efficiently in a high-stress environment.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Working Conditions:
- Hospital-based setting, primarily in telemetry units or cardiac care units.
- Exposure to patients with a variety of cardiac conditions, including acute myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, heart failure, and post-cardiac surgery recovery.
- Physical demands including standing for long periods, lifting, positioning patients, and responding quickly to emergency situations.
