Requirements:
.Possess a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited university or professional school.
.Successful completion of a psychologist intern program approved by the American Psychology Association.
. Possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted license or certification to practice as a psychologist in 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
. Possess experience as a Clinical Psychologist of at least two (2) years within three (3) years.
. Provide two letters of recommendation written within two years from practicing providers, supervisors, or program administrators attesting to the HCW’s professional skills, competencies, patient rapport, training abilities, etc. Recommendation letters must include the name, title, phone number, date of recommendation, address, and signature of the individual providing the recommendation.
Must be U.S. Citizen.
Duties:
Clinical Psychologist – The HCW shall provide services within the scope of the clinical privileges granted by the commanding officer, the applicable duties provided in the primary contract, and the following:
Deliver brief, consultation–based services to patients and PCMs using an integrated care model. Services provided are standard and mimic primary care's structure, function, and pace (i.e., psychotherapy or other specialty care psychological assessments are inappropriate and therefore prohibited). The PCM is ultimately responsible for the patient's health care plan and determines how the HCW's recommendations might be integrated into the PCM's plan for the patient.
Provide timely and succinct feedback to primary care physicians regarding consultation findings and recommendations.
Determine the appropriateness of the patient receiving services in the primary care setting and assist with implementing treatment plans.
Formulate behavioral health interventions appropriate to the primary care setting and assist with implementing treatment plans.
Provide brief follow-ups, including relapse–prevention education.
Develop and teach classes that promote education and skill-building to enhance psychological and physical health.
See approximately 8-14 patients a day.
Provide concise documentation of care and recommendations in the patient’s medical record in no less than 24 hours after the patient is seen.
Participate in group medical appointments, including Shared Medical Appointments (SMA) and Drop-in Group Medical Appointments (DIGMA), as requested by the PCM.
Provide technical direction and clinical insight into relevant projects being conducted at the site of service.
Perform clinical evaluations, including administering and interpreting psychological, neuropsychological, cognitive, and personality tests, and provide clinical consultation regarding selecting psychological tests. The HCW may also be required to administer neuropsychological assessments and perform a clinical evaluation and/or referral based on the neuropsychological assessment tool.
Communicate with family members and significant others to further the effectiveness of patient treatment and progress.
Become proficient with the use of the Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center electronic methods of completing the Department of Defense (DD) Forms - An electronic or web-enabled DD Form 2900 (or Standard Form 600 if electronic or web-enabled access is not available) shall be utilized for post-deployment health reassessments, an electronic or web-enabled DD Form 2795 shall be utilized for pre-deployment assessments. An electronic or web-enabled DD Form 2796 shall be utilized for post-deployment screenings. The HCW shall use the Standard Form (SF) 600, the primary form of documentation for medical encounters, and the (SF) 513, the primary consultation form.
Document all patient cases and ensure that patient encounters are captured in the workload in the Composite Health Care System (CHCS)/Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA) under the Medical Expense Performance Reporting System (MEPRS) code designated by the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED), Accounting Guidance, published July 2006 or subsequent revision.
Perform Mental Health screenings in association with the DD Form 2900 and other deployment-related assessments and evaluations when required. When requested, assess the results, treat patients, and refer patients for further treatment as appropriate.
Provide a full range of child and adolescent clinical psychologist duties.
Provide consultation, differential diagnosis, and treatment planning for all disorders defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders for children, adolescents, and adult family members, including, but not limited to:
* Disorders usually first evident in infancy, childhood, or adolescence, including Learning Disorders, Communication Disorders, Pervasive Developmental Disorders, Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Disruptive Behavior Disorders:
* Organic mental disorders
* Psychotic Disorders
* Schizophrenia
* Delusional Disorders
* Dissociative Disorders
* Mood Disorders
* Anxiety Disorders
* Post-traumatic Stress Disorder
* Somatoform Disorders
* Psychoactive Substance Use Disorders
* Sleep Disorders
* Factitious Disorders
* Impulse control Disorders
* Psychological Factors Affecting Physical Condition
* Sexual and Gender Identity Disorders
* Adjustment Disorders
* Personality Disorders
* Conditions not attributable to a mental disorder that are a focus of attention or treatment
Provide diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including but not limited to:
* Interviewing
* Major types of psychotherapy, including individual, group, and family psychotherapy, as well as appropriate psycho-educational classes
* Community outreach (e.g., health promotion and command consultation)
* Mental status examination
* Crisis intervention/management
* Case management and multidisciplinary consultation
* Medical discharge planning
* Psychosocial history taking
* Psychological test administration and interpretation
Participate in monthly in-service training for non-healthcare practitioner members of the clinical and administrative staff on subjects germane to mental health services. This shall include responsibility for developing and implementing psycho-educational programs, community relations, information, and referral.
