Position Overview: We are currently seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our behavior health unit. A Behavioral Health Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to patients with mental health and behavioral disorders, including psychiatric illnesses, substance abuse disorders, and developmental disabilities. Behavioral health RNs assess patients' mental health needs, develop individualized care plans, and implement therapeutic interventions to promote recovery, stabilization, and improved quality of life.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' mental health status, including psychiatric history, current symptoms, risk factors, and psychosocial needs, utilizing standardized assessment tools and clinical interviews.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and therapists, to develop individualized treatment plans that address patients' mental health needs, goals, and preferences.
  • Administer psychiatric medications as prescribed by physicians, monitor patients for therapeutic responses and potential side effects, and educate patients and families about medication management, adherence, and potential interactions.
  • Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as individual counseling, group therapy, psychoeducation, behavioral interventions, and crisis intervention techniques, to address patients' psychiatric symptoms and promote coping skills and resilience.
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention and stabilization for patients experiencing acute psychiatric crises, including suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, severe agitation, or psychosis, utilizing de-escalation techniques and collaborating with emergency response teams as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, care interventions, treatment plans, and progress notes in electronic medical records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and confidentiality requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.
  • Current registered nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in psychiatric or behavioral health nursing preferred.
  • Strong assessment, communication, and therapeutic skills.
