Requirements:
Must be U.S. Citizen.
- Degree: Certificate
- Education: Graduate from an academic course of phlebotomy that includes 120 didactic hours (or required by state law).
- Certification: A current certification and registration as a Phlebotomy Technician from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (PBT-ASCP);
OR
A current certification and registration as a Registered Phlebotomy Technician from the American Medical Laboratory Technologists (RPT-AMT).
- Experience: A minimum of 1 year full-time experience within the last 3 years as a Phlebotomist
Duties:
- Perform phlebotomy-related administrative and clerical procedures of the front desk section of the lab,fully document all samples obtained per the laboratory’s standard operating procedures, and assist with maintaining the cleanliness of the front desk and phlebotomy area.
- Collect blood samples from patients
- Practice proper patient identification, especially when working on hospital floors
- Label vials with patient names and dates
- Decipher the best method for drawing blood depending on the specific patient
- Transport all specimen samples to a nearby laboratory
- Centrifuge blood samples, depending on if this is allowed in the state you are working in
- Expect to work with a large number of patients varying in age and health status
- Practice infection control standards at all times when working with patients and equipment
Start date:
- As soon as possible pending Federal Security Clearance process completion (typically 4-6 weeks after initiation)
Schedule:
- The clinic operated Monday through Wednesday and Friday from 0630 to 1730 and Thursday from 0630 to 1930. The HCW shall provide services on a flexible basis across the clinic operating hours for an 8.5 to 9-hour shift, including an uncompensated 30 to 60 minute meal break, respectively. All shifts will be rotated with other phlebotomists. In no instance will the HCW be required to provide services in excess of 80 hours per 2-week period.
Ability to commute:
- Reliably transportation required and expected for commute to and from work site.
